4 Spring Trends I’m Living For

4 Spring Trends I’m Living For

Fashion is finally coming back around to an area I can enjoy. Y’all know I hate winter and looking cute in the winter is a struggle. Coupled with the fact that monochromatic minimalism has been so popular these last few seasons, and I felt like I was struggling through a dry spell. Luckily, 2017 Spring Ready-to-Wear collections came armed with bright colors, interesting prints, and a doll-like glam that warms my frozen over heart.

In every fashion season, there’s the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. Here are the four trends I’m absolutely LIVING for this season!

1. Distressed Denim

Examples of the spring distressed denim trend

I love distressed denim. It adds character and ruggedness that plain ol’ jeans just can’t deliver. You can make it cute or play up its edginess. In the springtime, it’s a great way to show a little skin and ease your way back into warm weather clothing. This trend looks especially great on boyfriend jeans. Your options for finding these are pretty much endless right now (you can even make your own!) but Forever 21 is a good place to start.

2. Brighter Color Palettes

Brighter color palettes dominated the runway for spring.

Look, I love a good neutral just as much as anyone, but I was getting burnt out by all the olive green/peachy nude/gray/black ensembles I kept seeing everywhere. Muted monochromatic just doesn’t feed my soul the way bright colors do! Bright colors dominated the spring 2017 runway and the Pantone Fashion Color Report. If bright pinks and red intimidate you, ease your way in with brighter hues of cool colors–they aren’t as loud.

3. Bigger, Bolder Earrings

Bold earring are making a statement all over spring 2017 runways.

With minimalism came smaller bags, smaller shoes, and smaller accessories. This trend of “maximalism” has revived big, statement making earrings. Statement earrings are my go-to accessory to liven up a plain top. If your ears aren’t pierced, you can always find cool vintage clip-on earrings at a thrift store if you’re willing to do a little digging. Your earlobes might hate you, but who has time to notice when they look this cute?

4. Quirky Patterns

Interesting prints have dominated the runway.

Prints can have so much personality. I’m not a big fan of polka dots or animal motifs, so this latest trend of geometric patterns and landscape prints has captured my heart. It’s hard to look boring with a geode splashed across your body! With so much different styles and motifs, there’s bound to something to appeal to everyone, even the minimalists.

A backless, black and white floral print dress is a great entry to wearing bolder prints.

What are you looking forward to wearing this spring? What trends have you cringing in horror? Be sure to keep an eye out for my upcoming posts, as I’m sure you’ll see one or more of these trends in action!

Lots of love,
Abigail
