With a Cherry on Top: Wearing Fall’s Hottest Color

In case you’ve been underground the last few months, the color dominating fall is cherry red. If you read my previous post on fall trends according to your zodiac sign, you know that this color was all over the Fall/Winter ’17 runways, and I’m loving it. Red isn’t an uncommon color for fall and winter, but it usually comes in the more subdued shade of wine. As fashion has gotten louder as a whole, it’s no surprise we’ve turned up the volume on red as well.

Pretty soon after I got back from my Jamaica trip, fall weather settled in. I am typically not the “sweater weather” girl who counts down the days to Halloween, but this year I’ve been drinking a little more pumpkin flavored things and even got excited to swap out my closet. While I was moving things, I rediscovered this great cherry red sweater.
Warm and on trend!

As I’ve gotten older, my patience for uncomfortable clothes has plummeted. They say beauty is pain, and my heel collection clearly says I agree to some extent. But lately I’ve been way more interested in finding that magical point where style and comfort coexist in harmony without having to sacrifice my whole look. I saw so many cute-but-obviously-uncomfortable uses of this cherry red color, especially in sky-high single sole stiletto boots. But I’m someone who has to walk most places (and also just spent a ton of money on vacation.) Right now, I’m more interested in what’s both walkable and already in my closet.

So this look is me finding my happy medium. It features a vintage mini-skirt that doesn’t ride up, a cherry red sweater that isn’t scratchy, and heeled thigh high boots that aren’t a pain to walk in. Bonus points for fall weather that doesn’t have me begging to go back inside! Best of all, it’s still totally stylish.
