Bringing the Drama with Dramatic Sleeves

If there’s one common thread in the trends taking off in the new decade, it’s that bigger is better. Fashion is moving away from the minimalist essence that dominated the runways through the mid-2010s and embracing the drama. Bags are getting bigger, pant legs are getting wider, and sleeves are getting ever more dramatic, too. Fashion is channelling the 80s and early-00s is a big way. To be honest, those two are my least favorite decades in fashion. But the 2020s take on dramatic sleeves has captured my attention. read more
Trend Tracker: The Pouch by Bottega Veneta
If there’s one bag that’s been taking both the blogs and celebrity candids by storm, it’s the Pouch by Bottega Veneta. The bag is almost genius in its simplicity: supple leather gathered into a pouch shape that allows for the materials to speak for themselves. The OG bag comes in calf leather, but Bottega Veneta has also released a $20,000 version in crocodile skin. Lime Green Takeover: Summer’s Latest Color Trend
Welcome back, Style of a Gemini readers! I’ve been MIA lately because real life has taken over, leaving me very little time for posts. Snake Me Out Tonight
Hello, 2019! We’re about halfway through January, and I’m proud of the fact I haven’t messed up what year it is once yet. Best and Worst Trends of 2018
2018 is drawing to a close, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on our year in fashion. 2018 brought much bigger changes to the fashion landscape than we’ve seen in years, largely due to the death of minimalism in high fashion. Personally, I thought it was a change more than overdue–you can only see a nude-colored head-to-toe look so many times before it feels uninspired. The trends of 2018 definitely took fun and fantasy to another level. read more
‘Tis the Season for Plaid
Nothing is new under the sun, and it’s especially true about plaid. Although it’s been highlighted as one of this fall/winter’s major trends, it’s a little disingenuous. Plaid trends so often in the colder months that it’s basically a staple print at this point. It’s not usually my favorite print, but when I came across this 80s inspired two-piece, I was totally sold. Somehow my least favorite fashion decade and my not-so-favorite print had come together to create something I actually liked. read more
