As you probably know, I’ve been taking belly dance classes for almost two years now. It’s been challenging but also one of best experiences in my life. It’s taught me a higher awareness of each part of my body and also how to love what it can do. It’s a dance that works on every body type and encourages you to appreciate how it looks on you. Just like clothing, it looks amazing in a different way on everyone.
My favorite fashion icons and influencers all are my favorite because they take trends and ideas and really make them their own. It inspired the hipster inside of me to relax on my “anti-mainstream” take on fashion and instead incorporate popular items that inspire me.
This pastel pink has been such a popular color, and I started to understand why when I saw the unique way some bloggers and designers were using it. The pink coat with jeans use of the trend was cool, but I was more inspired by the pink streetwear looks in Rihanna’s Fenty by Puma line.
I’ve been pretty anti-pastels for a long time, but it was because I associated them with an easter-y preppy style that’s not for me. Seeing it incorporated into more edgy, street style looks really inspired me to try and make the color my own. My foray into pastels started with this baby pink long line cardigan. I paired it with a pleather skater mini skirt and oversized pink crystal drop earrings. It makes me think dangerous glam rather than Easter parties.
Will you be thinking pink the next time you go shopping? What current trends have you inspired? Let me know how you’re using them in the comments below!
Lots of love,
